Drugstore Beauty Haul

image

Sometimes I lose control at the drug store. This was one of those times. I was walking by, and just couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something I was supposed to buy there. But for the life of me, I could not remember what. So I decided to do a little browsey-browse inside, and hope that something would jog my memory.

My memory remains un-jogged, but I bought just about everything, so I think I’ve got my bases covered.

You may remember that I bought a rose hand cream from The Body Shop in a recent haul post. I’ve been using it since, but I’m not overly impressed with it, since my hands remain a bit dry. So when I passed this guy in the store, I popped him in my cart. (Yes, I got a cart just for beauty products. A cart. But in fairness to me, I did have my hands full with a Teavana tea (delicious!!) and my bag, so it was slightly less insane than it sounds. Slightly.)

I’d heard good things about Soap & Glory Hand Food, so I’m giving it a try. I also love the packaging of all Soap & Glory products – and the name: Hand Food. Haha!

As I continued to browse around, I passed a stand featuring the latest L’Oreal Colour Riche nail polish collection. I’ve never owned or used L’Oreal nail polish before, but these two colors were too beautiful to pass up. The one on the left is a metallic antique gold, with a tiny bit of lavender duochrome to it. It’s #580 “Because You’re Worth It”. The one on the right is a stunning light peachy-pink, with a pearlescent shimmer to it. I can’t wait to try this one on. It’s #310 “Versailles Romance”, from the Romantic collection.

I hope the quality of these polishes are good – if you’ve tried them before, let me know in the comments!

Next stop: lip balm. Not the most exciting beauty product, but a beauty essential nonetheless. I’ve tried every lip balm imaginable, from EOS to MAC to Baby Lips to Sugar – but I keep coming back to Nivea lip balms. They’re amazing and very affordable. Normally I get the original dark blue one, but this Nivea Milk & Honey one was cute and smells lovely, so I hope it works just as well. I like to put a slathering of lip balm on overnight, and when I wake up, I have a well-hydrated pout. The perfect base for any lip gloss or lipstick!

This product was a repurchase, for me – and probably one of the things I actually did need to buy. I’ve tried high end mascaras (like Benefit and Dior) and drugstore ones, and the verdict is: there’s no need to splurge. I actually like this Maybelline Volum’Express The Falsies Flared (phew!) mascara more than any other. I always get the waterproof version, because it stays put – plus waterproof mascara holds a curl better. This mascara gives me ‘fairytale eyelashes’: long, delicate, black, but not too thick or clumpy.

This was another impulse purchase. I own another Annabelle lip liner in what is essentially my natural lip color, and I really like it. So I decided to get this one in a more rosy shade. The color is #010 “Natural Rose”, and I can’t wait to try it!

Revlon Lip Butters are some of my favorite lip products ever. They’re surprisingly long lasting, considering how moisturizing and buttery they are. On your lips they feel like lip balm, but they give the color of a lipstick. I own quite a few, but my favorites are “Pink Truffle” (a dark rose) and “Candy Apple” (a bright red). I’ve been wearing the latter nearly every day recently.

I’d been wanting a pretty medium pink shade for spring, since the majority of my pink lipstick are more fuchsia than pink – so I picked out #080 “Strawberry Shortcake”. It really freshens up the face!

And last but not least, I got two Covergirl Lip Perfection lipsticks: #300 “Flame”, and #405 “Fairytale”. These are meant to glide on your lips smoothly and keep your lips moisturized.

Fairytale is a beautiful bright pinky-coral, and flame is a hot coral-red.

I love how sleek the packaging is, and how you can easily see the color inside. Good job, Covergirl!

I tried them on when I got home, and really loved each one of them on my skin tone. They did feel nice and smooth on my lips, and the vibrant colors really perked up my whole face.

I did some swatches on my hand last night to show you guys the colors (Fairytale on the left, Flame on the right), and they have STILL not come off my skin. I have rubbed, scrubbed, and soaped, to no avail. It’s safe to say these last a long while on your lips – which is great! Just be careful to stay inside the lines when you apply them, because you won’t be able to fix it easily.

I also bought toothpaste, cotton pads, and black stockings, but that’s not really interesting to anyone so I didn’t include them here.

Drugstores are my kryptonite. xx
