Bookstore Haul
BOOKS. I love them, and I devour them. Bookstores are a very dangerous place for me. I mean, stores in general, but especially bookstores. Here’s what I picked up on my last trip.
I bought three books, and one little somethin’ somethin’ extra.
First up, Ender’s Game. I read this for the first time in the eighth grade, because my English teacher was super awesome and picked this for the class’s required reading. I remember that it was sci-fi-fantastic, but not very much else. On November 1st, the movie version is coming out, which I’m seeing with said awesome teacher (we’ve kept in touch), so I needed to re-read it first to refresh my memory. I’m excited.
Quarantine is a book I was recommended by (again) said awesome teacher. We have kind of similar taste in books, and both love dystopian and science fiction genres, as well as YA fiction in general.
I particularly love books about what happens when “civilized” society collapses, and this book seems to fit the bill. It’s about a virus released inside a high school that kills all adults. Obviously, chaos ensues. I’m really excited to read it!
This last book was an impulse purchase. I love Mindy Kaling, I’d never read a book written by a comedian before, and the cover was cute. So, I thought I’d give it a try. I’m reading it right now and loving it so far. It’s kind of an autobiography in the form of a series of snappy, hilarious essays on various topics.
I don’t want to give much more away, but expect a review very soon!
The last thing I bought from the bookstore was this cute little robin-egg blue weekly planner. As easy as digital calendars are, I prefer writing down my commitments on paper. It just helps me keep things organized and easy to see at a glance.
Plus, the sides of the pages were gold, and I’m kind of a sucker for that.
The pocket planner includes weekly calendars, monthly calendars, maps, a handy phone number section, and a “notes” section.
I’ve already begun using it! xx
