Sara’s Summer Boogie Playlist
If you’ve been here a while, it probably won’t surprise you that this isn’t your typical summer playlist. You won’t find any of the top 40 biggest hits of summer 2014 here.
That’s not to say that “real music” isn’t still made today. Every generation produces musical works of genius and works of cra….commercial success. (Before Yoncé did it, Mozart wrote a song about butts – and there’s nothing wrong with that.)
I love music from every era, as a quick skim through my Songs of the Day will prove. But lately, all I’ve been listening to are jazz, boogie-woogie, swing, and jump blues.
Since it’s the summertime and these are my current jams, I’m calling this my Summer Boogie Playlist. Want to dance along with me? Here are ten songs you can wiggle to on your way to work.
Listen to them all as a playlist here, or check them out individually below.
- Caldonia – Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five (x)
- My Baby Just Cares for Me – Nina Simone (x)
- Everybody Eats When They Come to My House – Cab Calloway (x)
