5 Healthy Vegan Breakfast Ideas
I loooove breakfast and breakfast foods, but I hardly ever eat it. Most mornings, I wake up, get ready, and fly out the door as quickly as possible. But if it’s a weekend or a day I’m working from home, I love spending a few minutes putting together a beautiful (and super delicious) breakfast to start the day.
While I’m not strictly vegan (or strictly anything), I do try to ensure the majority of my meals are plant-based. Here are a few of my go-to quick and easy breakfast options. (more…)
Vegan Spicy Tofu Poke Bowls
I’m obsessed with poke bowls, and I order them all the time. However, what I’m not obsessed with are the tofu poke bowls most restaurants offer. See, raw salmon and tuna have an inherent flavour, so those bowls are tasty even without the fish being marinated or drenched in a sauce. But when tofu is served up that same way – plain – it’s bland as hell. And we don’t do bland in this household. (more…)

Healthy Vegan Cauliflower Tacos 2 Ways
My best friend and I booked a girls’ trip to Mexico in March! I’m so tired of Toronto’s cold winter weather, can’t wait to lay on a beach, soak up the sun, and eat my body weight in tacos and guac. I’ve been so into the vacation spirit, I even signed myself up to a beginner’s salsa class! Turns out I’m much better at eating it than dancing it.
Anyway, if you want to get into the spirit with me and celebrate Taco Tuesday, here are my 2 recipes for easy vegan cauliflower tacos. They’re delicious, quick to whip up, and made with only good things. Whether you’re an omnivore, eating dairy-free, or are a strict vegan – you’ll love these rainbow taco beauties. (more…)

Cocktail Hour: Berry Cream Soda Recipe
This berry cream soda cocktail might be my new favourite drink. It all started when I discovered Galliano Vanilla Liqueur back in December. I love vanilla everything, from perfume to candles to desserts, so I was fairly confident I’d like this stuff, too. My next task was to design a drink that used it. After some experimentation, the Berry Cream Soda was born.
Some people love the taste of alcohol, and enjoy a glass of whiskey or bourbon on the rocks. I’m the total opposite. I like my cocktails as sweet as possible, with the actual alcohol concealed completely. If you’ve got a sweet tooth like me, and like to get your buzzed covertly, then this is the cocktail recipe for you. As the name suggests, it tastes exactly like cream soda! (more…)
Cocktail Hour: Spiced Rum Apple Toddy
Few cocktails taste so much like Christmas than a spiced rum apple toddy. There are many different takes on hot toddy recipes, but this one’s my personal favourite. I served these up at my recent Christmas party (post to come!) and they were a big hit. They’re simple to whip up, delicious, warm, festive, and surprisingly potent. (more…)
Cocktail Hour: Dillon’s Rose Gin + Tonic
I’m strictly a gin drinker, and my go-to cocktail for any occasion is the gin and tonic. While the basic G+T never goes out of style, sometimes it doesn’t hurt to dress it up a little, and give the classic cocktail a modern update. Enter my Dillon’s Rose Gin and Tonic recipe – a delicious, slightly sweet concoction created to delight all of your senses. (more…)
Halloween Cocktail Party
Last Saturday night, I hosted a little Halloween cocktail party at my apartment for a few close friends. Halloween, both for kids and adults, is half about the junk food, and half about dressing up – so I had to make sure both elements were present at my party. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: The Breakfast Burger
It all started with a question: can you microwave an egg? I did what anyone with a thought in their head and working internet connection would do: I Googled it. As it turns out, you can microwave an egg. I skimmed through a few recipes that included this method, from quiches to complex frittatas, some of which were made in a mug. When I saw that, an idea began to take shape in my mind, and a recipe was born. I call it the Smoked Salmon Egg Frittata Breakfast Burger, and it’s ah-maz-ing. (more…)
