Brunch in the Afternoon
A little while ago, I hosted brunch at my apartment for a few of my closest friends. The great thing about hosting is that you get to set the rules of the game. In this case, it meant that for one day, everyone had to operate on Sara time.
That meant brunch – in the late afternoon. (more…)
Naturebox Canada Review
I’ve never been one for subscription boxes. Things like Birchbox, and Glossybox, which send you a surprise selection of beauty samples each month for a set fee, hold little appeal to me.
For one thing, I’m very choosy with makeup and know exactly what I want (and don’t want). Giving up the ability to choose for myself in order to get a bunch of randomly-selected miniature products and potions that will just clutter up my bathroom counter is just not my thang.
Naturebox takes the idea of the subscription box, and applies it to healthy(ish) snack foods. Now this is exactly my cup of tea. Here’s why. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: White Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Milkshake
I’ve been trying to eat really healthy again over the past month, and while most of it has been smooth sailing, the thing that’s been the hardest to say goodbye to are processed sugar and fat-laden desserts, like cakes, brownies, and ice creams. Since munching on fruit just wasn’t cutting it when it came to my dessert cravings, I decided to invent a solution. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Crostinis
It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted a recipe! This is what I served the other night when I had my relatives over for dinner at my apartment. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Watermelon Salad
With autumn just around the corner, this end-of-summer recipe takes full advantage of ingredients that are currently in season before they disappear for the long, cold winter: watermelon and berries.
This salad is both beautiful and refreshing, making it an ideal side dish for summer entertaining, or a light and healthy meal for one. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Simple Guacamole
Avocados are the bees’ knees. They’re so good, they practically don’t need anything else added to them. But combined with a few simple ingredients, whipping up a yummy & healthy guacamole is easy as pie. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Veg Scramble
You really can’t screw up scrambled eggs. (Though Gordon Ramsay would disagree.)
They’re quick, delicious, and fuss-free. And as great as plain ‘ol scrambled eggs are, adding in some veggies makes them even better. You won’t even notice you’re eating something healthy! (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Tomato Basil Salad
In the warmer months, when it’s hot and sticky out, there’s nothing better than to come inside and enjoy a cool, refreshing meal.
Here’s one of my favorite salad recipes, filled with fresh, Italian-inspired flavours. As with all my recipes, this one’s quick and stupidly simple. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Green Smoothie
I don’t often make smoothies, because I prefer to eat my fruit and veggies in their whole form. But sometimes I’m not in the mood for a jumbo salad, and a smoothie is a great way to get some extra greens in on those days. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Fruit Infused Water
We all know that water is the healthiest thing for us to drink. Our bodies need water for just about everything. But let’s face it: sometimes water is dead boring. So occasionally, it needs to be dressed up a little. (more…)
How To Have A Lovely Day
I’ve decided to have a perfect day. Sure, I have a final exam tomorrow, but I’m off today with absolutely no plans, and I’m going to make the most of it.
It’s currently 9:30 in the morning, and this is what I’ve done so far. I will update this post in real time, as the day progresses!
1. Wake up bright and early, alarm clock-free. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Avocado Sandwich
This is the simplest, most delicious healthy lunch (or snack) you can make: an easy avocado sandwich.
First, let me break down for you exactly why avocados are the best things ever, and why you should eat one every day. (more…)
Recipe du Jour: Berry Parfait
This was today’s breakfast, and it was so sinfully delicious (and simple!) I knew I had to share. It’s barely a recipe – just three ingredients thrown together, but here you go. (more…)
Benefits of Lemon Water
Let me start by saying, lemonade this is not. This isn’t something you drink in the summertime because it’s sweet and refreshing and tastes great. In fact, you’re likely going to make some hilarious facial expressions while forcing yourself to drink it. I certainly do! (more…)
