My First Vlog!
It’s an exciting day in Sara du Jour land! As promised (kind of), my very first vlog is here! I’m a bit nervous about it as I’m much more comfortable expressing myself in writing. Talking to a camera by myself still feels a bit odd to me. Maybe I’ll get used to it.
Please let me know what you think, and if Q&A or tag vlogs are something you’d like to see more of.
Sorry the quality isn’t great, I filmed on my macbook, resting it on a stack of chairs. It was really quite a sight. Also, you might need headphones to hear the audio properly – I’ve no idea why it’s so low! Gah!
Obviously I’m new at this. Well, here we goooooo! xx Continue Reading →
I Woke Up Like This, or: #NoFilter
I have never been more nervous to put up a blog post before. But it’s late at night – that particular time of night when people get a little more honest, and sometimes, a little more brave.
I’m in bed with my laptop and my cat, and I’ve been hit with a wave of courage to do something I’ve been thinking about doing for a while. So, I’m going to grit my teeth, cross my fingers, and hope I don’t regret this in the morning. Continue Reading →

Book Review: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings reads like a work of fiction. It’s vivid, engaging, and tells a fascinating story. But given the traumatic events and circumstances described within it, I wish it were just fiction instead. Continue Reading →

Book Review: Looking for Alaska
Though I read and liked The Fault in Our Stars, I wasn’t sure I was going to foray back into the world of John Green.
Having now read two of his books, it seems as though his style is to write about death and teenagers who aren’t quite teenagers. But I’m getting ahead of myself again. Continue Reading →

Recipe du Jour: White Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Milkshake
I’ve been trying to eat really healthy again over the past month, and while most of it has been smooth sailing, the thing that’s been the hardest to say goodbye to are processed sugar and fat-laden desserts, like cakes, brownies, and ice creams. Since munching on fruit just wasn’t cutting it when it came to my dessert cravings, I decided to invent a solution. Continue Reading →

Say something, I’m giving up on you

Book Review: What Would Audrey Do? by Pamela Keogh
Audrey Hepburn is one of my biggest inspirations, so I thought this book would be right up my alley. I admire her kindness, generosity, grace, and sense of style (particularly in the fifties and early sixties).
Unfortunately, What Would Audrey Do? wasn’t quite what I hoped it would be. Continue Reading →
Darcy & Me
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single woman in possession of a small apartment must be in want of a cat.
Ever since reading Pride and Prejudice, I knew I was destined to fall for a Darcy. And wouldn’t you know it? That’s exactly what happened. Continue Reading →
