Book Review: Linchpin
“There are no longer any great jobs where someone else tells you precisely what to do.” – Seth Godin, Linchpin
I’ll keep this brief: Linchpin is a user’s manual to making yourself indispensable in the workplace. It’s a guide to avoiding being the replaceable ”cog” that our modern, assembly line-loving, cost-cutting society trains us to be. To become an artist instead, at whatever it is you do. Recipe du Jour: Veg Scramble
You really can’t screw up scrambled eggs. (Though Gordon Ramsay would disagree.)
They’re quick, delicious, and fuss-free. And as great as plain ‘ol scrambled eggs are, adding in some veggies makes them even better. You won’t even notice you’re eating something healthy! Continue Reading →
The Hit List: Best Red Lip Products
Ah, the red lip. A statement of femininity for decades. I love wearing a red lip, both in the evening and even during the day sometimes, to perk myself up when I’m feeling a bit drab.

Book Review: World War Z
I went into this book blinder than I usually do. All I knew, going in, was that zombies were somehow involved. While that proved true, Max Brooks’s World War Z was not at all what I expected. Continue Reading →

Fancy-looking updos can be daunting. And if you’re a hair novice, many of them, while beautiful, are just a little bit too complicated to replicate.
But never fear, Sara is here! (hee hee.) Here are four simple as heck hairstyles that take under five minutes each. All you’ll need are a handful of bobby pins, a clear rubber hair elastic, and maybe some hairspray if you need the style to last. No heat, styling tools, fancy combs or equipment required.

Tutorial: My Everyday Soft Cat Eye
I’ve gotten a ton of requests to do a tutorial on my everyday eye makeup, so here we go! This soft, slightly smokey cat eye is the eye makeup I do pretty much every day (though sometimes I skip a few steps to save time), both for daytime and evening.
I find this style of eye makeup most flattering, because it isn’t too obvious but makes your eyes look bigger and more awake, and your lashes fuller.
It may seem like a lot of steps at first, but once you get the hang of it, you can bang this out in under five minutes. Continue Reading →

Bang Bang – Will.I.Am, from The Great Gatsby soundtrack
I’ve been hooked on the Gatsby soundtrack – it’s all I’ve listened to today!
Book Review: Inferno
Dan Brown’s books, to me, are like great action/adventure movies – in print form. They’re filled with twists, turns, and cliffhangers, and I find myself gasping aloud more than once. Continue Reading →
