Fall Fashion Haul (Lulu’s + Forever 21)
Fall fashion is the most fun to shop and dress for, isn’t it? Jewel tones, textures, and layering make a comeback as we ease away from the bright colours and airy designs of summertime. Here’s a fall fashion haul of a few style pieces (clothing and accessories) I’ve bought over the last little while as I got excited for the change in seasons. Continue Reading →
Recipe du Jour: The Breakfast Burger
It all started with a question: can you microwave an egg? I did what anyone with a thought in their head and working internet connection would do: I Googled it. As it turns out, you can microwave an egg. I skimmed through a few recipes that included this method, from quiches to complex frittatas, some of which were made in a mug. When I saw that, an idea began to take shape in my mind, and a recipe was born. I call it the Smoked Salmon Egg Frittata Breakfast Burger, and it’s ah-maz-ing. Continue Reading →
Book Review: Dark Places
Gillian Flynn is one hell of a writer. I plunged back into the world of fiction after a brief holiday in memoir-land, and let me start by saying: the title doesn’t lie. Dark Places is dark. Really, really dark.
Let me paint you a picture. Continue Reading →

You’re probably going to go to a lot of job interviews in your lifetime, whether it’s straight out of college, or later on in your career. Home Office Haul: Indigo + Kate Spade
I’m slightly ashamed to admit that this is the first of two Indigo haul posts to come. What can I say: Indigo bookstore is my kryptonite. Plus, they carry Kate Spade items, which is just unfair, really. So anyway, here are a few things I bought recently to keep me organized, motivated, and stylish while I work from home. Continue Reading →
Lust List: October 2014
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a wish list of mine! I may make a series of these Lust Lists, but this one is for October 2014. Here are ten gorgeous things I’ve been gazing at from afar with big puppy dog eyes lately. Continue Reading →
Book Review: Not My Father’s Son
I’m not one for celebrity memoirs. They tend to be self-indulgent money grabs which aren’t even written by the celebrity 99.9999% of the time – they’re ghost written.
Alan Cumming’s memoir, Not My Father’s Son, is the complete opposite. It’s raw, beautiful, brave, and honest. I really can’t say enough good things about it. Continue Reading →

Song of the Day: I’m Not The Only One – Sam Smith
Brunch in the Afternoon
A little while ago, I hosted brunch at my apartment for a few of my closest friends. The great thing about hosting is that you get to set the rules of the game. In this case, it meant that for one day, everyone had to operate on Sara time.
That meant brunch – in the late afternoon. Continue Reading →
Song of the Day: Ring Them Bells
Ring Them Bells – Liza Minelli
I’m having a major Liza Minelli moment, and this is such a fabulous song.
10 Tips for Building Self Confidence
One of the most common questions I get asked online is about how to build your confidence and feel good about yourself.
In a world that literally functions based on telling people (especially women) that they’re not good enough as they are (yay, capitalism!), having confidence in the face of that onslaught is no easy feat. Continue Reading →
Book Review: The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules
I fell in love with the idea of this book more than I fell in love with the book itself. The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules, by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg, has an absolutely delightful premise. Continue Reading →
Naturebox Canada Review
I’ve never been one for subscription boxes. Things like Birchbox, and Glossybox, which send you a surprise selection of beauty samples each month for a set fee, hold little appeal to me.
For one thing, I’m very choosy with makeup and know exactly what I want (and don’t want). Giving up the ability to choose for myself in order to get a bunch of randomly-selected miniature products and potions that will just clutter up my bathroom counter is just not my thang.
Naturebox takes the idea of the subscription box, and applies it to healthy(ish) snack foods. Now this is exactly my cup of tea. Here’s why. Continue Reading →
