Spring Nail Polish Picks

Since this week marks the start of spring, I thought I’d post my favorite nail polishes for the season. Spring is my favorite season, because it always seems to be brimming with possibilities. There’s something so uplifting about watching life begin anew, and being finally able to shed a few layers and enjoy the sunshine. Mind you, it snowed where I live in Canada yesterday, so I’ve yet to experience this.

Where winter is all about dark jewel tones and muted colors, spring is about brights and pastels. With that in mind, here are my nail picks!

From left to right, we begin with Butter London’s “Trout Pout”. Bright colours never pick up very well on camera, but this one is a nearly neon peachy-coral. I love the cheeky polish names Butter London comes up with, too.

Next is Essie’s “Mint Candy Apple”. This has been a hugely popular color for a few years now (since Chanel started the mint nail trend), and for good reason. Essie never fails to deliver excellent polish application and long-wearing color. Milky pastels are often challenging to work with, but this one’s a dream! It covers quite well in only one coat, though I like to apply a few, because I’m a perfectionist. There are a ton of mint nail polishes out there, this particular one is more of a blue-based mint green. Similar to the Tiffany’s color!

What’s more spring-like than a sunny yellow? I couldn’t make this post without including Sephora by OPI’s “IM Beauty”. This one is a bit of a struggle to work with, but it’s worth it because the color is so pretty. If you want it to be more of a clean, bright yellow color, try applying an opaque white polish on your nails as a base, before topping it with the colored polish once that’s dry.

This next polish, Essie’s “Peach Daiquiri”, is a recent purchase of mine, and you can see me wear it in this ‘nails of the week’ post. This polish was love at first swipe, because not only is the color beautiful, it’s smooth, even, not gloopy, and lasts for a long time. Such a cheerful and bright coral-fuchsia.

Maybelline’s “Love Me Lavender”, is unfortunately, a limited edition polish from last year’s spring line. It’s a gorgeous milky pink-lavender, and it will forever be, to me, the color I wore on my trip to London. It’s no longer available for purchase, but fear not! Essie recently released a collection with a color called “Madison Ave-hue” that looks mighty similar in photos.

And last but not least, is OPI’s “Gargantuan Green Grape”. Another minty green shade, but this one is far more yellow based, as you can see in the photos. While I really like the color, it is very thick and tends to goop, so it’s tricky to work with. I recommend not having too much polish on your brush as you apply it, because otherwise it’ll collect in your cuticles.

That concludes my spring nail edit! What’s your favorite spring shade? xx
