Fall Bath & Body Works Haul

I admit it: I spend an exorbitant amount of money on candles. But I can’t help it – something about the beautiful flickering candlelight combined with the delicious scent wafting through the air and filling the room just gets the romantic in me.

For me, candles are what make a house a home, and make everything feel warm and cozy. Though I can live without candles in the summer months (and I did) I simply can’t live without them come fall and winter.

Bath and Body Works make my very favorite candles, and their yummy fall-scented ones are the best. I wait all year for their fall candle collection to be released!

Naturally, when I was in Bath & Body Works the other day, I smelled trouble. Trouble mixed with pumpkins.

Here’s the loot: I picked up eight candles in total: two 3-wick (14.5 oz.) candles, and six 6 oz. mason jar ones.

Let’s start with the two biggest ones. After sticking my nose into virtually every candle scent in the store, I picked my two favourites: Apple Ale, and Nutmeg & Spice No. 1.

To me, Apple Ale smells like a combination of crisp apple mixed with rich, sticky caramel. It’s described as “a blend of autumn apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon bark”.

It’s quite a strong, delicious scent and fills the whole room easily.

Nutmeg & Spice smells like…Christmas. That’s really the best way I can describe it. A gentle, creamy nutmeg that reminds me of mum’s eggnog. It’s more subtle than some scents – a bit sweet, and a bit spicy – and so warm and calming. I will definitely save this one to burn in December, leading up to Christmas. It smells so yummy and festive!

Now let’s talk about these little mason jar beauties. First off – I LOVE the packaging. The glass mason jars are so cute and homey.

Of what I’ll call “the sweater collection”, I bought three of the four scents available. (I skipped Cider Lane – not one of my favourites.)

Again, the adorable knit labels sold me. These are three scents I’ve purchased before, so I already knew I loved them, and was looking to re-purchase them this year: Marshmallow Fireside, Autumn, and Leaves.

Autumn is a scent I’ve bought every fall for the past few years, so it’s a staple for me. (And comes with a bit of nostalgia.) It’s described as a blend of “dark pomegranate and red delicious apple with notes of fir balsam and rich cedarwood”. Of all the scents I’ve bought, this one is probably the least gourmand. The tree notes are apparent, with the underlying sweetness of apples. (I love apple-scented things!)

Leaves is a Bath & Body Works favorite. Everyone and their mother seems to love it. Described as a “rich blend of golden nectar, red apple and spiced berries” – this one is another very strong scent that can fill up your whole house. It’s very spicy!

Marshmallow Fireside is another winter classic for me, so I’ll save it for later in the year. It really does smell like sweet, creamy marshmallows and vanilla, with just a hint of woods.

The last three candles I chose were Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Caramel Latte, and Harvest Coffee.

Pumpkin Cupcake and Pumpkin Caramel Latte are two scents I tried in the mini size last year and loved, so I had to re-purchase them again this year.

Pumpkin Cupcake smells like just that: a freshly baked pumpkin cupcake covered in loads of rich buttercream frosting. It smells so good I’m tempted to dig in with a spoon.

Pumpkin Caramel Latte is described as “a warm, rich blend of creamy pumpkin, spiced caramel and sweet cream”. Sounds about right.

And lastly, Harvest Coffee smells just like a rich coffee roast – a scent I absolutely love. I actually like the smell of coffee more than the taste! And since I’ve recently cut coffee from my diet, (except for the occasional festive Starbucks decaf latte), this definitely hits the spot.

I can’t wait to start burning some of these!

I currently have Apple Ale lit, and it makes my home smell absolutely marvellous. I’m curled up with a cup of tea, a few squares of chocolate, this candle, and some jazz, and life couldn’t be better.

Happy second day of fall! xx
